IbnTulun -- This picture gives you some sense of the height of the minarette. The blocky, square lower section raises some questions as to whether this minarette was part of the original mosque or added later. Some say it is obvious that it was added on later, some say that the square blocky section was added later to reinforce the structure. The entire mosque is made of brick, with stucco applied to smooth the ways, btw.
