This post deals with some, uh, indelicate issues.<\/p>\n

\nSo, the Good Doctor and I are out one evening having a few drinks and some mezzes with a friend.<\/p>\n
Let us call this friend “S”. S is a rather secular Egyptian.
\nS told us this story.<\/p>\n
S says that there is a friend, T. T is male, not from Egypt. T has a “girl friend”.<\/p>\n
This girl friend is a married mother of a couple of kids. She is Egyptian. She wears a veil (headscarf).<\/p>\n
So S asked T, “she is married, and wears a headscarf, does she, you know, let you do <\/em>anything”<\/p>\n T’s response was “yes, we do <\/em>lots of things. But she never takes of the veil. Ever”.<\/p>\n As the Good Doctor and I were contemplating that image, S states the obvious:<\/p>\n “Apparently it is ok to cheat on your husband, as long as you don’t let your lover see your hair.”<\/p>\n S then goes on to say:<\/p>\n “Wait, it gets better. One time, while they were, um, amorously engaged, the call to prayer was heard. She made him stop and wait while she prayed.<\/p>\n They continued afterwards.”<\/p>\n Now, I don’t find the objection to sex during the call to prayer all that odd.<\/p>\n I do find the desire to leave the headscarf on as odd.<\/p>\n I fear that I would be ??immature?? ??insensitive?? enough to try to figure what the boundaries were EXACTLY with regard to the headscarf and sex.<\/p>\n I think I should stop now before I get myself in trouble.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" This post deals with some, uh, indelicate issues.
