{"id":170,"date":"2007-12-29T15:22:57","date_gmt":"2007-12-29T12:22:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cairochronicles.com\/jack\/?p=170"},"modified":"2007-12-29T15:22:57","modified_gmt":"2007-12-29T12:22:57","slug":"luxor-and-the-cruise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.cairochronicles.com\/jack\/2007\/12\/29\/luxor-and-the-cruise\/","title":{"rendered":"Luxor and the cruise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of our Christmas break, Kaddee, her mother and I flew to Luxor and boarded a Nile cruise boat for a 4 night, 5 day fun filled adventure.<\/p>\n<p>The cruise includes sight seeing at some temples as well on board entertainment Which we mostly slept through since we were all tired from sightseeing and coming down with colds.<\/p>\n<p>I can&#8217;t say I was sorry to miss the &#8220;galabaya party&#8221; or the &#8220;nubian drumming&#8221;. The belly dancer might have been <em>interesting <\/em>in a bad-train-wreck sort of way. But alas.<\/p>\n<p>[pause]<\/p>\n<p>I started to type up a &#8220;we went here and did this&#8221; sort of post, but that seems like too much work. So instead, some highlights and lowlights.<\/p>\n<p>We basically sat on the boat, watched the sunset<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image171\" alt=\"sunset800x480.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cairochronicles.com\/jack\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/12\/sunset800x480.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We went to Medinat Habu<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"MedinatHabu600x400.jpg\" id=\"image173\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cairochronicles.com\/jack\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/12\/MedinatHabu600x400.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>which is spectacular.<\/p>\n<p>It is also where Kaddee got to take a motorcycle ride.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"kdmotorbike600x380.jpg\" id=\"image172\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cairochronicles.com\/jack\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/12\/kdmotorbike600x380.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We went to the Valley of the Queens which was only mildy interesting. There are only 3 tombs open and the most famous one, Queen Nefetari&#8217;s tomb, is closed to regular tourists due to damage caused by humidity and dust.<\/p>\n<p>We skipped the Valley of the Kings tour (we did that last year) and decided to stay on the boat to ride through the locks at Esna.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image174\" alt=\"locks480x320.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cairochronicles.com\/jack\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/12\/locks480x320.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That was neat in a <em>we-are-such-geeks <\/em>way. I have never been through locks before.
