{"id":45,"date":"2006-09-15T02:24:43","date_gmt":"2006-09-15T09:24:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cairochronicles.com\/jack\/?p=45"},"modified":"2006-09-15T02:24:43","modified_gmt":"2006-09-15T09:24:43","slug":"apartment-living","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.cairochronicles.com\/jack\/2006\/09\/15\/apartment-living\/","title":{"rendered":"apartment living"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It has been a looonnng time since I lived in an apartment building.<\/p>\n<p>When I moved out of the last one in 1991, I swore I would never live in an apartment that had another apartment above it.<br \/>\nWell, that stuck for 15 years..<\/p>\n<p><strong>the bad:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>noisy elevators<\/li>\n<li>the woman upstairs that walks around with high heeled shoes on<\/li>\n<li>echo-y hallway and courtyard conversations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>the good:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the neighbors sometimes come over for no special reason, just to chat and see how we are doing.<\/li>\n<li>laundry downstairs that will wash, dry and fold a big pile of laundry for the equivalent of ~$2.50<\/li>\n<li>cafeteria\/snack bar downstairs. Cheap passable food. Some days, it is a godsend.<\/li>\n<li>the concert pianist upstairs that practices during the day.
